A Biden-appointed judge on Saturday said in a court filing that she plans on choosing Jessie Liu, a former US Attorney appointed by Trump during his first administration, to investigate whether the Justice Department and DOJ lawyers lied to her in the DC golf course case.

Uruguayan-born judge Reyes late last month issued a preliminary injunction over the ’s effort to renovate the East Potomac Golf Course.

The Trump Administration removed more than 400 trees from the East Potomac Golf Course last month, and Judge Reyes flipped out.

Judge Reyes blasted the Trump Administration and ordered the government to halt its project.

“Rarely, if ever, has the United States Department of Justice urged a federal court not to believe the sitting President. Not to believe him that a cabinet secretary has “developed” a federal land project. Not to believe him that the secretary’s agency will destroy a historic golf course already on the land. Not to believe him that “Restoration work” will begin “IMMEDIATELY!” Not to believe him that the course “will be closed” for over a year. Not to believe what the President has repeatedly told the American public,” Judge Reyes wrote in a scathing 70-page opinion.

“And yet, here we are,” Judge Ana Reyes wrote.

Judge Reyes repeatedly attacked President Trump for posting about the golf course on his Truth Social page this month, while his Justice Department was in court, claiming that the renovations were set to begin in November.

Last Friday, Judge Reyes said she will appoint a special master to investigate DOJ officials after sparring with DOJ official Stanley Woodward.

Judge Reyes on Saturday signaled that she would likely tap Jessie Liu to investigate Trump DOJ lawyers.

Politico reported:

A federal judge revealed Saturday that she plans to name Jessie Liu, a former U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., during President Donald Trump’s first term, to probe potential misconduct by government attorneys in litigation over a public golf course Trump is seeking to revamp.

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes said in a brief order that she plans to tap Liu “to investigate whether Department of Justice or Department of the Interior counsel have committed ethical violations” in their handling of a lawsuit filed in February to halt alterations to the East Potomac Golf Links. Trump has sought to convert the public courses, which sit at the center of a D.C. public park, into a larger “championship-level” course.

Liu spent about a year and a half as U.S. Attorney in Washington before Trump nominated her in 2019 to become associate attorney general, the No. 3 post in the Justice Department. Her nomination was ultimately withdrawn after she faced resistance from Senate conservatives due to her role over a decade earlier in a women lawyers’ group that opposed Justice Samuel Alito’s confirmation and supported abortion rights.
