It’s happening again in Britain.
For the second time in the month of September, dozens of UK flights have been canceled, and hundreds more delayed in a ‘air traffic control meltdown’.
The technical issue at the Nats Prestwick center was reportedly solved, but the number of passengers hit by the delays and cancellations is in the tens of thousands.
More flights are likely to be grounded during the day.

BBC reported:
“Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has announced the issue now been ‘fixed’, but acknowledges it would be ‘deeply frustrating’ for passengers after previous chaos caused by a separate Nats issue earlier this month.”
Nats, UK’s leading provider of air traffic control services, stated that the issue ‘has been fixed’.
The impacted airports are reportedly in the northern parts of the UK, with airports south of Manchester ‘broadly unaffected’.
“Nats described the fault as a ‘connectivity issue with part of our systems network’, with disruption expected to remain while things get back up and running”

The Telegraph reported:
“Around a dozen British Airways and 50 EasyJet flights have been cancelled while data from Flight Radar suggests that nearly 200 flights have been delayed across the country.
Martin Rolfe, the chief executive of National Air Traffic Services (Nats), is now facing fresh calls to quit after the fourth meltdown on his watch.
Manchester, Glasgow and both Belfast airports were worst affected by the ‘technical issue’ across central England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Nats has apologized and insisted that it was unrelated to the previous air control incident earlier this month.”
‘It could be that your plane is currently sitting on the ground in Glasgow or in Edinburgh and as a result of that there is going to be a long delay.’
