President Donald Trump unloaded Monday night on longtime Bush-era operative Karl Rove, branding the Fox News and Wall Street Journal fixture a “stone cold loser” who is “so bad for the Republican Party.”
Trump wrote on Truth Social:
“Karl Rove is so bad for the Republican Party, and completely wrong so often. He suffers from a major case of Trump Derangement Syndrome primarily because, for almost 10 years, I beat back and won against so many of the people and things that he wanted and espoused. Why does FoxNews and the WSJ keep his RINO Voice alive. The guy is a stone cold loser!”
The president’s Truth Social blast came hours after Rove told a private Austin lunch crowd he would break more than 30 years of Republican voting and cast a ballot for a Democrat.
According to reporting by Carlos Nogueras Ramos of The Texas Tribune, Rove made the remarks Monday at a members-only lunch at Austin’s Headliners Club.
Attendees said he called Republican Texas Railroad Commission nominee Bo French a “bigot” and declared he would vote for Houston Democrat Jon Rosenthal instead.
Rove claimed the last Democrat he backed was Texas Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock in 1994.
