Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson spoke at the GOP Midterm Convention on Thursday and explained to the audience why he flipped from Democrat to Republican.

Johnson has been mayor of the city since 2019 and made the party switch in 2023.

His story will sound familiar to many people. According to him, it was about freedom, basic economics, and public safety.

As the old saying goes, a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality.

Transcript via Townhall:

“I chose to join a party that believes in some fundamental truths: That public safety must be our top priority, that economic freedom is vital, that taxpayers and families deserve respect, and that pro-business policies create jobs and opportunity.

And I chose to leave a political party that was determined to defund the police, a party that puts criminals’ interests ahead of the law-abiding families that they terrorize, a party that shakes down taxpayers and job creators, a party that embraces tent cities and chaos, and a party that treats hardworking families with shame and disdain.”

Nothing brings out the ugliness of Democrats like a black person who is also a Republican.

Congratulations to Mayor Johnson for embracing common sense.
