Amy Coney Barrett, Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, speaks during a Senate confirmation hearing, emphasizing her legal perspectives and qualifications.

Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan on Tuesday testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett detailed the chilling threats her family has faced following the Roe v. Wade draft opinion leak.

A draft of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked to Politico’s senior legal reporter Josh Gerstein in May 2022.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito wrote. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

“This made us targets of assassination,” Alito previously said of the draft leak to Politico.

On Tuesday, Amy Coney Barrett said her 12-year-old son discovered her bulletproof vest in her bedroom.

“I didn’t expect that performing this service was going to put me in the position of explaining to my children what a bulletproof vest was and why I had to wear one,” Amy Coney Barrett said.

“I was very, very grateful that I had Supreme Court police outside my home,” she said.

In May, police responded to a call for ‘suspicious noise’ thought to be gunshots at the home of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Law enforcement realized it was a swatting call after meeting with Amy Coney Barrett’s security detail.

The call came into Fairfax County police through the non-emergency line.

The swatting incident at Amy Coney Barrett’s home is the latest assassination attempt against a conservative Supreme Court Justice.

In June 2022, a California man was arrested near the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The man, identified as Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, reportedly told police he was there to kill Kavanaugh.

The would-be assassin was upset over abortion and guns.

“The attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a disgusting attack against our entire judicial system by a profoundly disturbed individual,” said then-Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
