Former McConnell staffer and CNN pundit Scott Jennings rushed to X on Tuesday to debunk growing rumors that hospitalized RINO Senator Mitch McConnell is brain dead.
Jennings posted that he spoke to his “old friend” McConnell for 20 minutes while the 84-year-old Kentucky senator recovers in the hospital. They discussed Iran, Ukraine, the unfolding situation in Maine, Jennings’ visit to the TR Presidential Library, and Senate history.
Jennings wrote on X:
“I spoke to my old friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior Senator from Kentucky. He’s still recovering in the hospital. We talked for just shy of 20 minutes … about IRAN, UKRAINE, the unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history. I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible.”

The post was clearly an attempt to push back against widespread online speculation, including from prominent conservative voices, that McConnell is brain-dead or on life support following his latest medical emergency.

High level source close to the White House tells me “Mitch McConnell is officially brain dead. He’s not coming back.”
Mitch McConnell is being kept “alive” by life support machines, but my White House source told me McConnell is in organ failure, and as I reported, source told me he has allegedly been declared a vegetable (brain dead) by doctors and the White House has been told “McConnell isn’t ever coming back.” Officially brain dead, organ failure is accelerating, life support machine is keeping him “alive” but his brain is officially dead.

McConnell has been hospitalized since June 14 following the cardiac arrest episode. His office and allies like Senate GOP Leader John Thune have described him as “dialed in” and improving. Yet the limited updates have done little to quell public concern.
As we reported in May 2025, McConnell appeared in frail, incapacitated condition during public appearances, wasting time attempting to block key Trump cabinet appointees while battling the President he claims to support.
President Trump himself has repeatedly torched McConnell as an “angry man” who is “very disloyal,” taking credit for judges Trump appointed while doing little himself. In June 2026, Trump ripped into McConnell and other RINOs during Oval Office remarks.
In March 2026, Trump posted a video explicitly trolling McConnell’s cognitive decline while the Kentucky senator opposed the SAVE America Act.
Just weeks earlier, Rep. Tim Burchett exposed how McConnell’s handlers were blocking the SAVE Act from even reaching the Senate floor for a vote.
McConnell has also voted against advancing President Trump’s DOGE rescissions package alongside Murkowski and Collins, and released vile statements against RFK Jr. and other Trump picks. Time and again, the “Toxic RINO” has positioned himself as a roadblock to the America First agenda.
Even if McConnell can string together coherent sentences for 20 minutes on foreign policy gossip and Beltway insider topics, his decades-long record as the ultimate RINO has been far more damaging to the America First movement than any health rumor.
