The United States has officially lit up the skies and the history books.

As Americans celebrated the nation’s 250th birthday, the United States shattered the previous Guinness World Record for the largest fireworks display ever recorded, capping off President Donald Trump’s ambitious America 250 celebration with a breathtaking patriotic spectacle over the National Mall.

The record-breaking show featured approximately 850,000 fireworks launched during a 40-minute display from multiple firing locations, including barges positioned along the Potomac River, surpassing the previous record of 810,904 fireworks set in the Philippines on New Year’s Day 2016. Organizers had spent months planning the unprecedented pyrotechnics display.

President Trump personally promised and delivered on it. In the lead-up he posted on Truth Social:

“On July 4th… I will be launching, what will be, the LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY, right here in our Nation’s Capital.”

He wasn’t exaggerating.

The family-owned Pennsylvania company Pyrotecnico, now in its fifth generation, handled the pyrotechnics. Company leaders called it “the biggest show we’ve ever done.”

They used advanced computer simulations and decades of expertise from Super Bowls and major events to pull off the impossible.

Dozens of technicians worked in coordination for the immersive, multi-location barrage that had crowds gasping from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol.

The massive celebration followed President Trump’s nationally televised address honoring America’s Semiquincentennial, where he praised the nation’s founding, military, and economic resurgence while declaring that America’s “golden age” had only just begun.
