Maine Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner said that universal government-run health care would represent “the future” of the United States if Democrats regain political power, adding to a campaign platform that has centered on expanding federal social programs.

Platner has previously advocated for a Medicare-for-all system and other progressive economic policies.

Platner declared that America is “much closer to universal healthcare than people think,” and that the only thing standing in the way has been a lack of political power.

He predicted a massive surge of single-payer radicals in the House and Senate after this November’s elections and made clear that once they have the votes, they will ram it through.

Here is Platner in his own words:

“I think we are much closer to universal healthcare than people think we are. We don’t have universal healthcare, we don’t have a single-payer system. The reason we have it isn’t— or we don’t have it isn’t because, like, we haven’t written good policy or we don’t know what to do. It’s simply because there has not been the political will or power to make it a reality.

And I believe after this November We’re going to see a massive increase in people in the House and the Senate who see a universal single-payer system as the future in healthcare in this country. We’re gonna see a lot more of them. And that’s going to allow us to build a lot more power, ’cause at the end of the day, it really is just about power.”

This is the same politician who has openly called for America to take a position of “cooperation instead of opposition” toward Communist China and admitted he is “not a China hawk by any stretch of the imagination.”

Platner wants deeper integration with the CCP regime on issues like climate change while pushing Medicare for All as the centerpiece of his platform. He has repeatedly said “Medicare for All is the answer” and made universal, single-payer healthcare a core promise on the campaign trail.

The Gateway Pundit exposed how Platner was recruited to run by Democratic Socialist activists from the DSA. We reported on his deleted Reddit posts where he openly called himself a “communist,” declared that “all cops are bastards,” and mocked a teenager’s unsuccessful suicide attempt.

He carries (or carried) a Totenkopf tattoo on his chest, earning him the nickname “Nazi Tattoo Platner” in conservative coverage. He has also faced serious allegations involving a Kik account and past personal conduct.

None of it mattered to Maine Democrats. They nominated him anyway.
