President Donald Trump hilariously roasted men competing in women’s sports during a speech Tuesday at the Mack Trucks manufacturing facility in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, specifically calling out transgender weightlifters and declaring the practice insane.
The president also mimicked a struggling transgender weightlifter, in a moment that quickly went viral.
“Are we crazy? Men should not be able to participate in women’s sports,” Trump said.
The president added that claims this is only an “eighty-twenty issue” are wrong, insisting instead it is a “ninety-nine to one” issue in favor of protecting women’s categories.
The president then launched into a mocking imitation of transgender weightlifters struggling with lifts, drawing big laughs from the crowd as he acted it out.

Trump strongly opposes biological males in women’s sports. His latest remarks focused on weightlifting as a particularly obvious example of the unfairness created when men pretending to be women enter female competitions.
One of the most prominent cases of a male weightlifter competing against women was that of “Laurel” Hubbard, born Gavin Hubbard, a biological male in New Zealand.
Hubbard competed in men’s weightlifting events earlier in life before transitioning and identifying as a woman.
In 2021, Hubbard became the first openly transgender woman to compete in the Olympics, entering the women’s super-heavyweight category in Tokyo.

Hubbard did not earn a medal, but the participation itself sparked international controversy over retained male advantages in strength, muscle mass, and skeletal structure developed during male puberty.
In late 2025, biological male Jammie Booker, competing as a transgender woman, won the World’s Strongest Woman title at the Official Strongman Games, prompting immediate backlash from female competitors and observers who argued it undermined the integrity of the women’s division.

Booker was eventually stripped of the title.
Scientific research consistently documents why biological males hold significant and often irreversible advantages in strength-based sports like weightlifting and powerlifting.
A major 2021 review published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine concluded that transgender women retain meaningful advantages in muscle strength, lean body mass, and other performance metrics even after testosterone suppression.
The paper, titled “Transgender Women in the Female Category of Sport,” emphasized that male puberty brings lasting benefits in areas critical to weightlifting, such as greater muscle cross-sectional area, higher bone density, and larger skeletal frames.
Even after years of hormone therapy, biological males typically maintain higher grip strength, greater overall muscle mass, and superior performance in explosive and maximal strength movements compared to biological females.
A Gallup poll released in 2025 found that 69% of Americans believe transgender athletes should compete only on teams matching their birth sex.
Support for birth-sex categories was even higher among Republicans at 90%.
An earlier New York Times/Ipsos poll showed roughly 79% of Americans overall oppose biological males competing in women’s sports, including majorities of Democrats and independents.
These numbers have remained remarkably stable or grown stronger in recent years as more people have seen real-world examples in weightlifting, swimming, track, and other sports.
