Senator Mitch McConnell’s office released a statement on Monday after he was hospitalized last Sunday morning.

The 84-year-old Kentucky Senator was rushed to the hospital last week and was “receiving excellent care” the spokesman said.

It is unclear why McConnell was admitted to the hospital.

On Monday, McConnell’s office said the Kentucky Senator will not be voting this week.

“Senator McConnell is still working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery. However, he will not be voting this week,” McConnell’s office said.

This is the second time McConnell has been hospitalized in the last couple months.

Earlier this year McConnell was hospitalized with flu-like symptoms.

“In an abundance of caution, after experiencing flu-like symptoms over the weekend, Senator McConnell checked himself into a local hospital for evaluation last night,” a spokesperson for McConnell said in February.

His prognosis is positive and he is grateful for the excellent care he is receiving. He is in regular contact with his staff and looks forward to returning to Senate business,” the spokesperson added.

McConnell is suffering from a myriad of health problems.

Last October, McConnell took a nasty fall in the Russell basement.

McConnell fell down hard and had to be helped up. It is important to note that McConnell has a weak leg after suffering from Polio as a child.
