President Trump’s Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned amid an investigation into her husband’s sexual misconduct in the latest Cabinet shakeup.

This is the third Cabinet official to leave in Trump’s second term.

Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling will replace Chavez-DeRemer as Acting Labor Secretary.

“Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will be leaving the Administration to take a position in the private sector,” White House Comms Director Steven Cheung said.

She has done a phenomenal job in her role by protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives,” Steven Cheung said.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s husband, Shawn DeRemer, was under investigation for sexual misconduct.

CBS News reported on Shawn DeRemer in February:

Shawn DeRemer, the husband of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, will not face federal charges over allegations of assault at the department’s Washington, D.C., headquarters, multiple sources told CBS News Friday evening.

After reviewing evidence, including security camera video, federal prosecutors have decided against charging DeRemer, the sources said.

In a statement provided to CBS News, a spokesperson for U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said Friday night that “based upon the evidence presented to this office in relation to the video, there is no indication of a crime.”

Sources familiar with the situation had disclosed to CBS News earlier Friday that DeRemer had been told not to enter the department headquarters after two women who work there reported that he had touched them inappropriately.

Earlier this month it was reported that President Trump was considering further changes to his Cabinet after firing Pam Bondi as Attorney General.

President Trump has fired two high-level officials over the last month.

Trump fired Bondi as US Attorney General and fired Kristi Noem as DHS Secretary.

The President reportedly fired Bondi over her handling of the Epstein files and dissatisfaction with her leadership.

Kristi Noem was fired after she spent $200 million on an ad contract and lied to Congress and claimed it was with Trump’s approval.

Politico and the Washington Post reported a couple of weeks ago that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer may be on the chopping block – and on Monday Chavez-DeRemer resigned.

President Trump may make further changes to his Cabinet ahead of the midterms, just in case the Republicans lose the Senate.
