President Donald Trump teased the imminent release of government documents on UFOs and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) during a speech on Friday at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona.
Trump said he recently directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to begin declassifying the files.
“I recently directed the Secretary of War … to begin releasing government files relating to UFOs and unexplained aerial phenomena,” Trump told the crowd. “And I figured this was a good crowd because I know you people–– you’re really into that, I don’t know if I am.”
The president added that the review process is already well underway and has uncovered notable material.
“This process was well underway, and we’ve found many interesting documents, I must say, and the first releases will begin very, very soon,” the president stated.

In February, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he directed the Department of War and other agencies to identify and release government files related to “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters.”

Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
The announcement comes as congressional Republicans continue pressing for greater UAP transparency.
Rep. Tim Burchett, who has led multiple UAP hearings since 2023, has urged the administration to release the files.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has used subpoena power to demand classified UAP videos from the Pentagon after missed deadlines.
No specific release date or details about the documents’ content have been announced beyond Trump’s comments that the first batch is coming “very, very soon.”
The Department of War has not yet issued a public comment on the timeline.
