DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin speaks during a Fox News interview, where he signaled the federal government may reconsider Customs and Border Protection operations at major airports in sanctuary cities.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is floating a move that could hit Democrat-run cities where it hurts most, their international airports.

During an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Sec. Mullin made it clear that the Trump administration is weighing aggressive action against sanctuary jurisdictions, including the possible removal of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations from major international airports.

“I believe sanctuary cities is not lawful,” Mullin said. “We may examine closely is that some of these cities have international airports. If they are a sanctuary city, should they really be processing customs into their city?”

He added, “If they’re a sanctuary city and they’re receiving international flights, and we’re asking them to partner with us at the airport, but once they walk out of the airport, they’re not going to enforce immigration policy — maybe we need to have a really hard look at that because we need to focus on cities that want to work with us.”

When pressed directly by Baier on whether major hubs like New York, Los Angeles, or San Francisco could lose customs operations, Mullin confirmed the possibility:

Sec. Mullin: “Well, I’m saying we’re going to have to start prioritizing things at some point. Right now, remember, Democrats are wanting to defund Customs and Border Protection. So who processes those individuals when they walk off the plane?

“I’m going to be forced to make hard decisions—who’s willing to work with us and partner with us? Once again, I’m not going outside the policies that Congress has passed for me, and we’re not trying to push beyond those, but we’re saying that you’ve got to partner with us.”

No more free rides for cities that have spent years shielding violent criminals, MS-13 members, and gotaways while American taxpayers foot the bill for their crime waves, hospital overloads, and school chaos.

The Gateway Pundit has been documenting this insanity for years. Just last month, we reported on ICE agents detaining an illegal alien right at San Francisco International Airport, only to have far-left activists swarm the scene while SFPD hid behind their sanctuary policy and refused to assist federal officers. That’s the same sanctuary city that now might lose its precious customs processing if Mullin follows through.
