South Carolina Republican Congressman Joe Wilson was rushed to the emergency room on Wednesday night after he slipped in his bathroom and hit his head.

Rep. Wilson, 78, received stitches and will remain hospitalized under observation.

“Last evening, Congressman Wilson slipped in the bathroom of his residence in Washington, DC and cut his head. He was taken to the Emergency Room of a local hospital where he received stitches and is under observation to rule out a concussion,” Wilson’s office said.

“He is alert and working from his hospital room,” Wilson’s office said.

In September 2024, Wilson was taken to a hospital after he collapsed at an event in DC.

Doctors confirmed that Wilson had ‘stroke-like’ symptoms.

“I just spoke to my mom who is currently at the hospital with my father. Doctors have confirmed to us that he has experienced stroke-like symptoms,” Wilson’s son said in 2024.

I was able to speak with him moments ago and I am incredibly thankful that he is stable and being monitored by medical professionals,” he said.

Wilson has been in Congress since 2001.

In 2009, Joe Wilson shouted, “You lie!” at Barack Obama during his speech to Congress.

Barack Obama falsely claimed that illegal aliens would not be eligible for health insurance in the reforms he proposed.

Wilson was ultimately reprimanded and forced to apologize.
