Trump and Putin spoke for over an hour.

More dialogue, fewer missiles.

As the US-Israel versus Iran war rages in Asia, and the Russia-Ukraine endures in its 5th year, a phone call between Donald J. Trump and Vladimir Putin comes at a vital time.

Axios reported:

“This was the first call between Trump and Putin since the beginning of the war with Iran.

Russia is a key ally of Iran and U.S. officials are concerned it is helping the Iranians in their war effort.

Trump downplayed that scenario, but White House envoy Steve Witkoff told reporters on Saturday that he has communicated to Russian officials that they shouldn’t share any intelligence with Iran.”

“He wants to be helpful [with Iran]. I told him you can be more helpful by ending the war in Ukraine.”

Reuters reported:

“The Kremlin said Trump had called Putin and, in their first telephone call this year, they discussed Russian ideas for a speedy end to the conflict in Iran, the military situation in Ukraine and the impact of events in Venezuela on the global oil market.

[…] Putin had said earlier that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran had triggered a global energy crisis, while cautioning that oil production dependent on transport through the Strait of Hormuz near Iran’s coast could soon come to a halt.”
