The Middle East conflict dramatically escalated early Monday morning after the Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah launched rockets into northern Israel, prompting an immediate and forceful military response from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets and drones from southern Lebanon toward Israeli territory, triggering air raid sirens. The IDF reported that at least one rocket was intercepted while others landed in open areas, with no injuries initially reported.
“Following alerts that were activated in several areas in the north of the country, the Air Force intercepted a launch that crossed from Lebanon; individual launches fell according to policy. No injuries or damage were reported,” Israeli Air Force announced.
Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it targeted an Israeli missile defense site near Haifa using “advanced rockets and a swarm of drones.”
In response, Israeli military leadership warned the terror group would “pay a heavy price” for targeting Israeli civilians, as IDF Northern Command mobilized forces along the Lebanon border and prepared for what Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir described as:
“Several days of fighting… in waves.”
But Israel’s response was swift:
“The IDF is currently striking with force at targets of the terrorist organization Hezbollah across Lebanon, in response to launches fired toward the State of Israel.
The terrorist organization Hezbollah, operating under the auspices of the Iranian terrorist regime, opened fire against the State of Israel and its citizens.
The IDF will act against the terrorist organization Hezbollah’s decision to join the campaign, and will not allow the organization to pose a threat to the State of Israel or harm residents of the north.
The terrorist organization Hezbollah is devastating the State of Lebanon; the responsibility for the escalation lies with it, and the IDF will respond forcefully to this attack.
IDF forces prepared for this scenario as part of the orderly combat procedure within Operation “Roar of the Lion” and are ready for a multi-arena scenario and to confront any threat to the State of Israel.

Israeli fighter jets launched a new wave of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut’s southern suburbs and multiple locations across southern Lebanon. The strikes reportedly hit weapons storage facilities, terror infrastructure, and senior Hezbollah operatives embedded within civilian areas.
