“An Auburn University admissions official accused of using race-based admissions has resigned,” according to Campus Reform.
In May, the Alabama-based Auburn University had alleged that the admissions officials had altered criteria based on race in order to give a built-in advantage to Black students.
Of course, admissions based on race is the very definition of discrimination.
“The accused officials included Phil Verpil, then the assistant vice president for Enrollment Management, and the executive director of undergraduate admissions.”
According to 1819 News, Verpil has since resigned.
Internal emails read “I wanted to share that Dr. Phil Verpil has submitted his resignation,” Joffery Gaymon, the vice president for Enrollment Management, said in the email. “He shared that he is grateful to Auburn University for the opportunity to serve in this role.”
Gaymon himself was also accused of using race-based admissions.
“We’re just thankful justice has been served,” an anonymous inside source at the office told 1819 News about the resignation. “[I]t’s almost too little, too late.”
The 1819 news had previously exposed efforts to make test scores optional and pursue “target” populations, and Black/African American was the only listed category.
A spokesman at Auburn denied using race as a factor, saying “Admissions policies are designed to ensure that all applicants are evaluated fairly, with a focus on academic rigor,”
“In 2023, the Supreme Court ruled that race-based affirmative action in college admissions was unconstitutional in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.”
“The Trump administration announced in August that it would require universities to submit admissions data to help identify race-based practices.”
While this resignation is just a drop in the bucket, it’s the first step in ending Woke and discriminatory policies.
As TGP reported extensively, Woke “progressive” ideology remains rampant throughout academia, and DEI remains a big problem.
