Farm animals caught in the middle of hostilities stand no chance.
‘Ukrainian pig saves Russian soldiers’ was probably not in anybody’s bingo card – but that’s exactly what happened to advancing soldiers in Ukraine.
The pair was saved from being blown up after the pig stepped on an ‘anti-personnel mine’ left by retreating Ukrainian troops.
The Telegraph reported:
“In footage caught on a drone camera, the pig can be seen walking along a path, yards ahead of Russian troops.
Startled by the soldiers, the pig jumps and starts to run. But as it flees, its rear hooves set off the device, which explodes in a cloud of smoke.
Remarkably, the pig survived the blast, although it did appear to be injured, and the Russian soldiers avoided the debris cloud.”
It is not known exactly where or when the incident was recorded, but the Telegraph report says that the footage was shared ‘on trusted social media channels’, which for them must mean ‘Ukrainian’ channels.
The bizarre reality of War.
