The married MAGA-hating congressman who was rumored to be having an affair with an aide who reportedly burned herself to death in September has finally broken his silence.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Cassandra MacDonald reported, Rep. Tony Gonzales (RINO-TX), married father of six, is accused of carrying on an extramarital affair with his senior aide, Regina Santos-Aviles, who tragically died after dousing herself in gasoline and setting herself on fire.

35-year-old Aviles, a married mother of an eight-year-old son who was separated from her husband, Adrian Aviles, was often seen by Gonzales’s side. Such appearances included high-profile events, such as Elon Musk’s 2023 tour of the Mexico border in Eagle Pass.

Gonzales discussed the rumored affair at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin on Thursday, telling a reporter there was no veracity to any affair while also denying knowledge of Aviles’ passing.

“The rumors are completely untruthful. I am generally untrusting of these outlets,” Gonzales stated.

“‘Regina’s family has asked for privacy. If it was your family or any of our families, I would argue that you would want privacy as well, he added. “I don’t know exactly what happened. Nobody has contacted me. I haven’t contacted anyone.”

“I’m waiting for a final report. I think that would make a lot of sense.”

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Aviles was discovered on fire by her mother at her Uvalde home back in September.

After reviewing surveillance video, authorities determined Aviles was in her backyard alone when she caught fire on September 13.

Aviles was alive when first responders arrived at her home late in the evening on September 13; however, she passed away the next morning.

It was later determined that Aviles doused herself in gasoline and set her body on fire.

While Aviles’ death has been ruled a suicide, the medical examiner’s office in Bexar County told Daily Mail it would be weeks before a final report and autopsy on her death is available.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, local police are stonewalling the release of critical evidence, including the 911 call, surveillance video, and police records.

Gonzales has faced criticism from within the GOP for left-wing stances on issues like gun control and immigration.

The Texas congressman also called top Trump supporters “real scumbags” on CNN last year, and even compared them to the Ku Klux Klan for not funding Ukraine.
