Toronto, Canada advertises new speed limit signs

The City of Toronto’s X account posted a ridiculous public notice about new speed limit signs in neighborhoods on Friday, which turned into a PR nightmare for the city. 

Instead of posting a photo of a speed limit sign on the road, they made it woke and had to turn off comments on the post as social media users destroyed them.

The image shows a gay interracial couple pushing a stroller through the neighborhood. There are no speed limit signs in the photo, but one of the men is wearing a T-shirt, designed as a speed sign, that reads “Maximum 30 Area Begins”

Who could have known this would backfire?

“Due to numerous violations of the City of Toronto’s social media terms of use, the comment section on this post is now locked. You can find the City’s terms of use here: toronto.ca/socialmedia. Any comments in violation of the terms of use will be removed,” the city wrote in a thread post as freedom of speech haunted them.

New 30 km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30 km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area.

Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer.

Toronto has previously come under fire for its insane woke policies.

Previously, the city got roasted for driving around in transgender decorated police cars and advertising its “2SLGBTQI+” (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and other identities) liaison officers “combating transphobia” in what looked like a comedy skit.

A video released by the department features a man identified as “Nevada,” claiming he had “been transitioning for eight years.”
