Patrick Clancy has revealed the heartbreaking final days he spent with his eight-month-old son, Callan, after the infant survived the brutal deaths of his two siblings.

In an emotional interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, Patrick described desperately hoping that Callan would survive after being airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Patrick explained that he wanted to raise Callan, give him the best life possible, and tell him about his brother and sister. But when he arrived at the hospital and saw the doctor’s expression, he realized his son’s condition was far worse than he had hoped.

Callan’s heart continued beating for four days.

Patrick spent those final days beside his son and wrote tributes to all three of his children while holding Callan’s hand.

“I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live,” Clancy said. “And remember just thinking, ‘Just gimme one. Just gimme one kid,’ and I would raise him as best I could, and I would give him the best life I possibly could. I’d tell him about his brother and sister. And I was holdin’ out hope for that. And then when I got to the hospital, I saw the doctor. I saw the look on her face, and I knew that it wasn’t going to be a good prognosis.”

Callan’s siblings, five-year-old Cora and three-year-old Dawson, died at the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023.

Their mother, Lindsay Clancy, admitted killing the children but pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, with her defense blaming postpartum psychosis.

Clancy told 60 Minutes he still talks to Cora, Dawson, and Callan “all the time.” He dreams about them. On what would have been Callan’s first birthday he lit a candle at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, walked onto Fifth Avenue, and cried. Nobody noticed.

He has since remarried Dr. Rachel Danis and said they are starting a family. He wants to tell that child about the brothers and sister who never got to grow up.

He also addressed the smear campaign that followed the trial. Online conspiracy theorists and influencers decided the father must have done it, despite phone records, surveillance, and his own 911 call.

Clancy called those theories “deeply harmful to the legacy of my children” and a distraction from perinatal mental health. His lawyer previously warned the defamation campaign had produced real-world threats. The Gateway Pundit reported that statement when it was issued.

Clancy has said he forgave Lindsay because he believes mental illness, not evil, caused the killings. He asked the public to do the same in the days after the murders.

Lindsay Clancy sent her husband out for takeout on January 24, 2023. While he was gone she used exercise bands to strangle Cora, Dawson, and Callan. She then jumped from a second-story window and was paralyzed from the waist down.

She has never denied killing them. Her defense argued postpartum psychosis and command hallucinations made her not criminally responsible.

Prosecutors said she planned it, separated the children, and knew what she was doing. After more than 38 hours of deliberations, 11 jurors wanted to let her walk. One man would not. The judge declared a mistrial on September 4.
