Naval Academy graduate Landon Robinson has been turning heads for years for his athletic prowess.
On the field, as a three-year contributor, the defensive tackle/nose guard for the Naval Academy Midshipmen stacked up 153 tackles, 18.5 TFL, 14.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. During the win over rival Army in 2024, he ran a fake punt for 29 yards.
Robinson was drafted in the 7th round, 226th overall, by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Following pre-season play and the trimming down to the 53-man roster, Robinson made the cut and was ready to head to his first official NFL game.
While some players dress in outrageous outfits, bedecked and bejeweled, it was Robinson’s outfit that turned heads and went viral.
He showed up to his first regular-season game in his Marine Dress Blues.

WCPO reporter Noelle Blumel asked Robinson why he chose to wear his uniform, “Okay, you played football for Navy. You recently graduated from the Naval Academy.”
“Yes, I’m a 2nd lieutenant in the Marine Corps, and I’m in the reserves. So 2nd lieutenant in the Marine Corps, but I’m in the reservist status while I’m playing football. It’s the United States Marine Corps, really high-level, really sophisticated uniform that we wear at graduation. I wore that exact uniform at graduation. I thought, what better way to represent the Marine Corps, the Academy,” he answered.
“So you didn’t have to wear it, you chose to?” Blumel asked.
“No, I chose to wear it, yes. I chose to wear that, and I just thought it would be really cool. You know, week 1 at the Academy, we always wear our uniforms when we show up for games, and we march in together, and we all are sophisticated, and we’re all in one unit. I want to do that, you know, for week 1.”
“I’m so honored to be able to represent the Academy and the Marine Corps and the military as a whole because in the football world, there’s not a whole lot of that. It’s a unique opportunity that I have to play football and be in the Marine Corps, so I really have taken that upon myself to really represent that.”

Robinson and Navy teammate Eli Heidenreich, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, are the first Navy pair drafted in the same year since the 1950’s.
In March, Robinson and standout quarterback Blake Horvath, presented President Trump with a special helmet and football and shared some laughs during the team’s visit to the White House for the presentation of the Commander-in-Chief trophy.
