Rotterdam is home to the largest seaport in Europe, and one of the largest logistics hubs in the whole world.

The city, called the ‘Gateway to Europe’, takes great civic pride in its highly integrated public transportation, considered a safe, modern, and efficient transit network.

But today, something went wrong with a tram traveling over the world-famous Erasmus Bridge.

15 injured, including one seriously, in a spectacular collision between two trams on the famous Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam.

Euronews reported:

“Video footage circulating on social media shows the moment the two trams collided. One tram can be seen hurtling into another stationary railcar.

Two trams derailed after colliding in the Dutch city of Rotterdam on Wednesday morning, leaving 15 people injured, according to local authorities.”

The incident occurred at around 11:10 a.m., and the Erasmus Bridge has been closed to traffic.

“Firefighters, paramedics, and police officers attended the scene alongside an air ambulance. Seven people were taken to hospital for treatment, with one person seriously injured, officials said. Paramedics were able to attend to the rest of the injuries at the scene.”
