The Livingston County Democratic Party in Michigan posted, and quickly deleted, an image featuring the numbers “8647,” a code widely understood as a call to assassinate President Donald Trump.
The post triggered immediate backlash before the party quietly deleted it.
The AI image showed the four-digit code prominently displayed on the shirts of former presidents Barack Obama, Joe Biden, George Bush, and Bill Clinton.
“86” is longstanding slang for eliminating something, while “47” refers to President Donald Trump, the 47th president.

Party Chair Judy Daubenmier attempted to downplay the controversy by claiming the image was simply about impeachment.
“It seems people want to make something bigger about it than it is,” Daubenmier told local station WHMI. “It’s about impeachment and a lot of people want to see him impeached. And that’s clear. You can see him in a jumpsuit in the back.”
WHMI reports:
Asked why the post was removed, Daubenmier said, “It’s a distraction.”
Asked who posted the image to the party’s Facebook page, Daubenmier said, “None of your business.”
In a follow-up email, Daubenmier said the image of Trump in an orange jumpsuit was appropriate.
“Trump is, after all, a convicted felon, so showing him in an orange jumpsuit is appropriate,” Daubenmier wrote.
Local Republican leaders rejected the explanation, describing the post as evidence of how far the county’s Democratic leadership has sunk.
“The Livingston County Republican Party absolutely and unequivocally shuns the notion of hinting at, alluding to or otherwise suggesting violence toward any individual, including elected officials, regardless of the degree of disagreement with that official’s policies,” Drick told the outlet.
Drick called for the person responsible for the post to be removed from party leadership.
In May 2025, former FBI Director James Comey posted a photo on Instagram showing seashells arranged on a beach to form the numbers 8647.
Comey later deleted the photo and posted a follow-up message claiming he had assumed the shells were arranged as a political statement but didn’t realize some people associated the numbers with violence.
Trump publicly responded that Comey “knew exactly what that meant” and that it was a call for assassination.
In late April, a federal grand jury in North Carolina indicted Comey on two felony counts of threatening the life of the President of the United States and transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.
Prosecutors argued that a reasonable person familiar with the context would interpret the post as “a serious expression of an intent to do harm to the President.”
In June, the numbers were also etched into the grass on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., prompting an investigation by federal authorities.
This kind of imagery is reckless and dangerous, especially after multiple real-world attempts on President Trump’s life.
Many are now calling for federal authorities, including the FBI, to investigate the post as a potential threat.
The Democrat Party has offered no further public statement beyond the Livingston County chair’s impeachment defense.
