Weinstein fought several rape charges, was convicted in some, acquitted in others – but he will still remain in jail for a long time

Another victory for Weinstein – but his prison sentence is still going to be stiff.

The convoluted legal drama involving the NYC trials of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has almost ended.

It turns out that Weinstein will NOT face a fourth New York rape trial, as prosecutors dropped an outstanding charge after his previous trial ended in a deadlocked jury and a mistrial.

People reported:

“Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul, had been accused of raping hairstylist Jessica Mann, who testified at the previous three trials. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said on Thursday, June 25, that it would not retry Weinstein after Mann declined to testify again.

‘To be clear, we believe Ms. Mann’s account and her credibility as a witness’, Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg in a statement. ‘This has been an extraordinarily taxing ordeal for her, and she has never wavered while testifying in front of two grand juries and three trial juries over the course of eight years. We thank her for her honesty and her tremendous bravery’.”

Mann will not testify again

It’s unsurprising that Jessica Mann has refused to testify yet again, it’s quite the ordeal.

“Weinstein was initially convicted of raping Mann and sexually assaulting former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley in 2020. But those convictions were overturned by the New York Court of Appeals in 2024.

Following a retrial in 2025, Weinstein was found guilty of a criminal sexual act against Haley, but the jury was deadlocked on the rape charge. A third rape trial ended in a mistrial in May 2026 after jurors once again failed to reach a unanimous verdict.”

Weinstein high-octane defense team celebrated the outcome.
