Kamala Harris celebrated Juneteenth on Friday by dancing through the halls of an elementary school and greeting young children.
Harris was seen in a video prancing down the hallway to the tune of Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul,” stopping to hug and high-five children.
Harris shared the clip on Instagram, writing, “This is the joy we’re bringing all Juneteenth weekend.”
It is unclear where the apparent surprise appearance was made.

Harris further joined Don Lemon’s podcast on Juneteenth, where she gave her take on what Juneteenth means, while railing against Republicans for redistricting efforts and claiming they’re disenfranchising black voters. Lemon whined, “DEI programs are being dismantled, voting rights are being challenged, black history has become a political battleground once again.”
Harris described it as “a day to remember America’s history” and a “celebration of freedom.” In other words, the Fourth of July isn’t good enough for her.
“Part of the way I think about it is that Juneteenth, of course, was a day that there was a celebration of freedom, but the freedom that they celebrated was the promise of freedom in its full context, which includes the right to vote,” she said.
“We look at what’s happening across the country in terms of this, this attempt to cheat around what, what so many of these Republican governors started, which is redistricting, and then Democratic governors had to back it up.”
She further described the efforts as “an attempt to really marginalize black voters, black and brown voters.”
“Juneteenth is a moment for us to remember that the fight for justice, for equality, lives on, sadly, and we, who celebrate those wonderful moments that are part of the tradition of Juneteenth, must also dedicate ourselves to the action that we all have a duty to perform to make the promise of America real,” she added.
