At least 12 people were injured on Friday night after two individuals opened fire on a crowd in a drive-by shooting in South Chicago.
According to Citizen reports, over 100 rounds were fired.
Victims’ ages range from 17 to 47. A 26-year-old man is reportedly in critical condition.
Police found two individuals with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene, including one man who was grazed in the back four times and a woman shot twice in the back. Both are reportedly in good condition.
Ten other individuals transported themselves to the hospital.
Of course, the likely gang-related shooting is branded as a “mass shooting.”
Street Pastor Donovan Price condemned the violence on Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, saying, “It should be celebrating and fireworks and not turn into gunshots.”
Another man, Meadows Orion, identified as a “violence prevention advocate,” said, “It does a disservice to the community and what Juneteenth is supposed to stand for.”
