RINO Senator James Lankford, famous for his open borders push before Trump was president, was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to talk about the conflict in Iran. He explained that President Trump is handling the situation correctly.
Senator Lankford also talked about Bill Pulte, who was chosen to be the interim Director of National Intelligence. DNI Tulsi Gabbard made a recent decision to resign so she can care for her husband, who had a cancer diagnosis.
The Senator also explained that not renewing FISA in response to Pulte’s interim appointment was a dangerous decision and could send a message to terrorist organizations like ISIS and al-Qaeda.
“Are they stringing us along? Is there a deal to be done?” Bream asked.
“They are definitely trying to string us along, and Donald Trump is not going for it at all. It’s interesting to see how many folks on the left and some folks on the right even are trying to be able to push President Trump to be able to make a bad deal just to be able to get it over with,” Lankford explained.
“He’s been very focused. Iran has got to get rid of their nuclear weapons program. That enriched uranium. They have got to stop their acts of terrorism. They have got to open the Strait of Hormuz,” Lankford explained.
“Do you think we are getting any closer? I know that you have been talking with Secretary Rubio,” Bream asked.
“We’ll have to see. There’s a breakthrough moment that comes on the Iranian economy. Right now, President Trump doing a blockade around Iran not allowing oil ships to get in or out has put a real strain on the Iranian economy. Obviously, they can’t do commerce. Iran just reopened its internet last week. It’s hard to imagine that they had almost three months with no internet anywhere in the country,” Lankford said.
“Iran is under a tremendous amount of strain right now. That’s the President’s focus is not to do military action but to use diplomacy and economic power to be able to get Iran to actually open up the Strait of Hormuz, end its nuclear weapons program and end its terrorism acts,” Lankford continued.
Senator Lankford also discussed funding for ICE and CBP. He blasted Democrats for opposing funding for those agencies.
“We’ve got to be able to fund ICE and CBP. My Democratic colleagues have now for months blocked off any funding for ICE and CBP. They don’t want any kind of Border Patrol funding. They don’t want any kind of ICE funding. This is their latest defund the police type movement,” Lankford said.
“We have a very simple, straightforward, we are just gonna fund ICE and CBP. Not just for this year, but for the next three years to be able to take this off the table so they can’t shut down the government again,” Lankford explained.
Bream asked Senator Lankford about President Trump picking Bill Pulte to be the interim DNI until a permanent replacement is found for outgoing Director Tulsi Gabbard.
“Do you think Bill Pulte is qualified?” Bream asked.
“He’s not qualified for the long-term position. That has been clear on this. He has no national security background. This is a short-term, interim, few weeks to a month type role,” Lankford said.
“Just to be clear on this, to be able to say you are not gonna vote on FISA because you disagree with an interim, short-term person that’s stepping in to lead one of the entities literally is sending a message to al-Qaeda and ISIS and other folks, we’re not watching you right now,” Lankford warned.
