It took Ronda Rousey just 17 seconds to defeat Gina Carano during Saturday night’s Netflix MMA fight.
During the highly anticipated double-comeback fight streamed live on Netflix, Rousey charged out of her corner at the opening bell, immediately tackled Gina Carano to the mat at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, and locked in her trademark armbar.
Carano quickly tapped out, handing the former UFC champion a lightning-fast victory.
The bout was the headline event on the MVP MMA’s card, Netflix’s first-ever live mixed martial arts event.
After the fight, Rousey and Carano embraced in the center of the cage, exchanged warm words, and raised each other’s arms in a show of respect.

Rousey, who had not fought in nine-and-a-half years and was returning after focusing on family life following the birth of two children, called the finish “beautiful martial arts.”
“I was hoping to come out as unscathed as possible,” Rousey said. “I didn’t really want to hurt her. Luckily, it was beautiful martial arts, that’s what I think it was. It was art.”
Carano, 44, had been out of MMA for 17 years after transitioning to acting. She admitted she wanted the fight to last longer, but showed class in her defeat.
“I wanted that to last longer,” Carano said of the match. “I felt so ready. I’ve never felt that good. But I haven’t been here for 17 years … and I wanted to hit her.”

Rousey did not want the fight to last longer, saying, “Hell no. My husband and my kids are watching me. I don’t want to put them through anything more than I have to.”
Rousey announced that this was her final fight and that she is retiring on top.
Carano left the door open for future bouts, and promoter Nakisa Bidarian said he would love to feature her again.
