Minnesota House Democrat Rep. Aisha Gomez (D-Minneapolis) verbally assaulted Republican Rep. Elliott Engen, telling him to “go f*cking shoot himself” right in the middle of a heated debate on gun control legislation.

Multiple members of the Minnesota House Republican Caucus have confirmed the disgusting outburst to Townhall reporter Dustin Grage, exposing yet another example of the toxic, violent rhetoric coming from the very Democrats who claim to want to “stop the violence” while pushing their anti-Second Amendment agenda.

The vile attack happened late Thursday night during a marathon session where Democrats staged a sit-in to force a vote on gun-grabbing legislation (HF 5140), mirroring a Senate bill that would ban so-called “assault weapons,” large-capacity magazines, and more. Republicans, led by Speaker Lisa Demuth, rightly insisted on proper committee review first.

After hours of emotional testimony about recent tragedies in Minnesota, including heartbreaking stories of loss from shootings like the one at Annunciation church, Gomez reportedly lost it and directed her filth directly at Rep. Engen.

House Republican leaders are not letting this slide. Speaker Lisa Demuth and House GOP Leader Harry Niska are calling for Gomez’s immediate removal as Tax Committee Chair and demanding that far-left Governor Tim Walz publicly condemn the behavior.

In a strong joint statement, the GOP leaders slammed the Democrat’s conduct:

After Democrat Tax Chair Aisha Gomez verbally accosted Rep. Elliott Engen, House Republican leaders are calling on Leader Stephenson to remove her as Tax Chair over her statements, and calling on Governor Walz to condemn the behavior.

Speaker Lisa Demuth and Leader Harry Niska released the following statement about the incident:

“This kind of behavior is unacceptable and it makes every person in this place less safe,” said Demuth. “Someone willing to spew hate and accost colleagues is unfit to serve as a leader in Minnesota.”

“After the horrible tragedies we’ve had in Minnesota over the last year, it is sickening that an elected official would think it’s acceptable to say the things we heard tonight,” said Niska. “We had just heard hours of debate and heartbreaking stories of loss and violence. To respond to that with threats and hate is unconscionable and unacceptable.”
