The Gateway Pundit reported on a father who fatally shot a carjacker in Garland, Texas, on Sunday.
The carjacker approached the vehicle, jostled with the father, and shoved his way into the car.
Before he was able to turn on the car and take off, with a baby, two adult females, and multiple children inside, the father opened fire.
The carjacker was taken to the hospital, where, ultimately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Cellphone footage was obtained by a witness and shared by KDFW.
Watch:
Per Fox 4 Dallas, the suspect has been identified by Jose Ramirez, 30. Investigators told the outlet that Ramirez was a Mexican national living in the US illegally, although it is unclear when and where Ramirez entered the country.
According to police, charges against the father are unlikely. Police also note that, before approaching the family, the suspect had already crashed into two cars and was seen trying to break into other vehicles nearby.
On May 3, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Garland Police responded to the area of Highway 66 and Dairy Road regarding a traffic crash with unknown injuries.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a green passenger car had struck two other vehicles on the roadway. The driver of that vehicle stopped at a gas station on the southeast corner of Highway 66 and Dairy Road. At that time, officers received information that the driver was attempting to take several vehicles by force in the parking lot of the gas station. Those attempts were unsuccessful.
The suspect then crossed Dairy Road, on foot, to the parking lot of a convenience store on the southwest corner of Highway 66 and Dairy Road, where he encountered the driver of a white Chevrolet Impala.
The suspect attempted to forcefully take the Impala, and a physical altercation ensued between the suspect and the driver. The Impala was occupied by the driver, several children, and two adult females. During the struggle, the driver produced a firearm and shot the suspect.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the Impala remained at the scene and has been cooperative with investigators.
No charges have been filed. The investigation remains ongoing.
