The Gateway Pundit reported on radical communist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s menacing tax day message to New Yorkers, making sure they know he is coming for them.

In the creepy message, Mamdani used a penthouse owned by Ken Griffin, Founder, CEO, and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Citadel, as a cautionary example of what is in store for New Yorkers.

The video began with Mamdani telling viewers, “When I ran for mayor, I said I was gonna tax the rich.”

Then, with a grin and an attempt at a bit of Hollywood flair (which translated into creepiness), he leaned menacingly into the camera, tapped the lens, and declared, “Well, today we’re taxing the rich.”

“I’m thrilled to announce we’ve secured a pied-à-terre tax, the first in New York’s history. This is an annual fee on luxury properties worth more than $5 million whose owners do not live full-time in the city. Like for this penthouse, which hedge fund CEO Ken Griffin bought for $238 million.”

“This pied-à-terre tax is specifically designed for the richest of the rich, those who store their wealth in New York City real estate but who don’t actually live here.”

Following Mamdani singling Griffin out, Citadel clapped back by threatening to scrap its $6B investement in the Big Apple.

Citadel has already been slowly moving out of blue cities for various reasons.

In October 2025, Griffin revealed that his company’s presence in Chicago, its former home city, was shrinking further following the move of its headquarters to Miami in 2022.

In announcing the move, Griffin cited ‘runaway crime’ and rising taxes in the Windy City.

Now, as the spat with Mamdani grows, Griffin is doubling down on the decision to move to Miami and underscoring why New York, which ‘doesn’t welcome success,’ lost out.

Fox Business reports:

“Now what the mayor of New York has made clear to my partners, and principally my New York partners, is that we need to double down on our bet in Miami because we want to be in a state that embraces business, embraces education, embraces personal freedom and liberty,” he said.

“And that embraces people having an opportunity to live the American dream, a dream of earned success, not a dream of distributive handouts that leave people dependent on government for their lives and their livelihoods in a way that takes away their dignity and honor.”

“We’ve seen a mass exodus of business leadership from California to Texas and Florida. Mamdani’s making it very clear. New York doesn’t welcome success,” Griffin added.
