Colorado is running a political prison system, and one of its most high-profile victims is former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, now gravely ill inside a DOC facility that has repeatedly retaliated against her, denied her proper medical care, and subjected her to inhumane living conditions.
On December 8, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon sent an official notice to Colorado Governor Jared Polis announcing the opening of a sweeping Civil Rights Division investigation into the Colorado Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Department of Youth Services (DYS).
The investigation covers conditions across 21 state-run facilities and 12 youth centers, including the facility where Tina Peters is currently incarcerated.
This action comes after mounting reports of constitutional violations, excessive force, unsafe conditions, medical neglect, and religious discrimination inside Colorado prisons.
And one case embodies those abuses more clearly than any other: Tina Peters, the whistleblower who dared to expose vulnerabilities in Colorado’s election systems.
“Under my direction, Civil Rights has opened an investigation into the entire Colorado prison system following multiple reports of unconstitutional and legally insufficient carceral conditions. Prisoners have civil rights,” Dhillon announced on X.

Tina Peters is sick—very sick—and the Colorado justice and prison systems continue to ignore and exacerbate her medical decline.
Joe Hoft reported on Peters deteriorating health:
We reported this week that the Democrats running the state of Colorado want Tina Peters to stay in prison. The governor will not allow Tina to be moved to federal captivity.
On November 20, we reported that Tina was strip-searched and thrown in solitary confinement for filing a complaint on the prison’s GED teacher, who was making claims about Tina in her class.
A week before that, on November 15, we reported that the prison was keeping her cell temperature at nearly freezing temperatures. As a result, Tina, a cancer survivor, had gotten very sick.
Today, we have more shocking news on Tina Peters’ health as a result of months of emotional and physical abuse.
Here is an important message from a close friend of Tina’s:
Tina is a strong woman. No one can deny that. However, her health is not good and deteriorating as we speak.
Her physical condition continues to decline. Her cough is worsening and she is so weak she cannot walk to the medical line the last few days. She has continued to lose weight and has become very thin.
Tina has been drug tested multiple times this week. She was too dehydrated to pee in the cup for the last drug test.
Her memory is foggy. She has put in requests for medical evaluation with the facility for possible recurrence of lung cancer, mental, etc.
She needs a PET scan and a serious evaluation at a hospital.
Please pray for Tina Peters.
Christmas is approaching and we have yet to see a ruling on her Habeas.
Tina is a political prisoner incarcerated by a crooked judge in a sham trial to punish her for daring to defy the corrupt officials in Colorado by doing her job and maintaining evidence of fraud in the 2020 election.
Tina Peters is a symbol to all other clerks in the state and around the country to think twice before challenging the powers that be. She stood for all Americans and she has been made an example out.
Tina needs your prayers, your voice, and any support you can offer her right now.
May God strengthen her and bring her home.
Support her at tinapeters.us if you are able.
Tina Peters’s attorney, Peter Ticktin, has requested that Trump pardon Tina Peters. The reason for the pardon is that Tina is a witness to the most serious crime perpetrated against the US in history.
