One of the most infamous judges in Texas provided the perfect demonstration that no good deed goes unpunished as she dumped the man she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with.
As The Daily Mail reported, 34-year-old Harris County Democrat Judge Lina Hidalgo, who once appeared in Vogue, announced on Instagram on Monday that she had split with her 37-year-old husband David James on their first wedding anniversary after he spent almost his entire life savings on her during their time together.
The post features a photo seemingly celebrating their union, but Hidalgo makes it clear that she and James are done for good.

Our wedding day was the best day of my life so far. Perhaps because my life with David has been incredible. It’s been over half of my adult life—full of joy, new experiences, major changes, important lessons, incredible friendships, success, companionship, support, growth, and deep love.
We are a fantastic team. Our time together has also seen challenges, of course, but we’ve worked hard and availed ourselves of resources to weather those and strengthen our relationship.
This year, life took a turn that made us see things differently. So, very much unexpectedly, this day of our anniversary, David and I are separated. It’s not what either of us wanted.
It is what we confidently, though painfully, feel is best. Just as we have for 10+ years, we deeply love, respect, and admire each other and remain in close touch.
As The Daily Mail notes, Hidalgo’s dumping of James comes one year after she announced that her husband used almost all his life savings to help pay for treating her depression.
The Gateway Pundit previously revealed that Hidalgo announced in 2023 that she would be taking a leave of absence to seek treatment for clinical depression.
“Based on my doctor’s recommendation, I checked myself into an out-of-state facility to receive inpatient treatment in late July,” the corrupt Democrat said in a statement.
She continued, “It is important for me personally and professionally to confront this issue swiftly, so I will be taking a temporary leave from the office while I am receiving treatment.”
This came after rumors swirled that Hidalgo might resign as her office is embroiled in a bid-rigging scandal.
Hidalgo’s top three staffers were indicted in April 2022 after prosecutors expanded the investigation into an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach contract’ awarded to one of the judge’s political cronies.
Hidalgo ultimately panicked and canceled the $11 million vaccine contract after questions were raised that it was with a one-person firm with no experience.
Hidalgo appeared in Vogue back in January where she wrote about her alleged mental health struggles, claiming that one of the causes of her depression was concerns over ‘natural disasters in Texas.’
She said she had learned how to experience ‘sadness, worry, or exhaustion over friends’ illnesses or natural disasters in Texas or various work challenges.”
However, Hidalgo also stated that those feelings could coexist alongside her relationship with James and her anticipation of their wedding.
But these feelings certainly did not last long.
